While studies indicate schools across Texas have improved in state accountability ratings, schools within District 5 still reflect struggling student achievement scores, particularly in high-poverty areas.  In alignment with District goals, I will advocate for District 5, prioritizing the needs of our children and public schools, and ensuring that our schools and students have the resources and support required to thrive. 

Through clear, strategic goals and action plan, I aim to create a model that drives continuous improvement, specifically addressing the unique challenges faced by the schools and communities within District 5. This approach will ensure that we are meeting the needs of every student, regardless of their socioeconomic background.

I recognize that the success of our students is directly linked to the dedication and hard work of our teachers, staff, and administrators. I am committed to supporting them by prioritizing their personal development and providing opportunities for ongoing growth. This includes advocating for professional development programs that enhance their skills while focusing on the whole-child to ensure they remain equipped to meet the evolving needs of our students.

I will work to create sustainable incentives that recognize and reward their contributions, fostering an environment where they feel valued and appreciated. By focusing on teacher morale, we can create a positive and supportive workplace culture that empowers our staff to give their best everyday. When our educators feel supported and motivated, they are better able to guide our students toward success.

I am dedicated to managing resources wisely, monitoring progress through data, and making decisions that are in the best interest of our students. I will hold myself and the District accountable, ensuring that our policies meet legal standards and reflect the values of our community. 

I understand and value the importance of building strong, positive relationships with the community, District staff, and other stakeholders. By fostering open communication and mutual respect, we can work together to create a learning environment where all students can achieve and exceed targeted goals.

Maintaining safe and secure learning environments for all students, staff, and community members is critical. I am committed to prioritizing the development and implementation of infrastructure and policies that contribute to safer schools. This includes ensuring that our physical facilities are well-maintained, accessible, and equipped with the necessary resources to support a secure environment.

I will advocate for and support policies that promote student well-being, mental health support, and a culture of respect and inclusion. By creating a safe, welcoming, environment, we can foster a sense of security that allows students, educators, and staff to focus on "the main thing"- learning, growth, and achievement.
