I am honored to announce my candidacy for Dallas ISD School Board Trustee.
I embrace this journey, not as an individual seeking power, but as someone deeply committed to a cause greater than myself—the future of our children. The time is now for a bold leader who will prioritize the needs of students above all else, someone who will not compromise in making decisions rooted in what's best for our kids, especially those from historically underserved communities.
My roots run deep in Oak Cliff.
My grandparents were some of the first Black families to live in Glendale and Singing Hills. They prepared their children to integrate Clara Oliver Elementary and South Oak Cliff High. They helped write school songs, served on PTAs, started small businesses, and even founded a church, Community First Baptist, that sowed seeds of ministry throughout Dallas and beyond.
Yes, my roots run deep, and they were well watered. I was raised in love, and the principle of “community first” was embedded in my moral fiber, probably before I was born.
My motivation hasn’t been to enter politics or seek personal gain, but to follow the mandate my grandmother instilled in me: “You make the school. The school don’t make you.”
...In other words, if something needs to change, it’s your responsibility to change it. It is that spirit that compels me to serve as your Trustee.
As a DISD graduate, parent, and long-time advocate, I have seen enough to know that all our students, and their parents, deserve better. They deserve real results. They deserve safe schools. They deserve an education that prepares them for a fulfilling life in an uncertain world.
I am committed to dismantling the barriers that perpetuate cycles of poverty and inequality. I am passionate about ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their zip code.
As your Trustee, I will bring my lived experience, my track record of advocacy, and my unwavering commitment to fighting for our students. I understand that real change comes from making bold, intentional decisions that center the well-being of our children. I will not back down when it comes to providing the resources, support, and opportunities that every student deserves.
Together, we can create a future where all students in Dallas ISD have the tools they need to thrive academically and beyond.
The time for change is now, and I am ready to lead with integrity, commitment, and an unwavering focus on what truly matters: our kids.
